The site has to be readable
Plenty of sites are blank pages to an AI. Quick to check, then we fix it.
More and more customers read one answer, written by ChatGPT or by Google. If you're not in it, to them you don't exist.
In a list you compete for position; in an answer there's one spot, or nearly. It changes how the site is written and what you go and check.
It is also the one that surprises people most.
The whole page: text, images, buttons.Barely the title. The browser builds the rest, and the AI never opens one.

A clear question and a complete answer, one that makes sense read on its own.
What you sell, where you are, how you work: written so it needn't guess.
Timings, terms, what's included and what isn't. Nobody quotes 'industry leader'.
Answers draw on listings, profiles and reviews. We look at those as well.
We ask the AI your customers' questions and see whether your name comes up.
Nobody can guarantee ChatGPT will name you, any more than they can guarantee first place on Google. Anyone promising it is selling smoke.
What we can do is make you readable and quotable, then come back and check what happens.
And it doesn't replace Google: the same people still search there. They go together.
It is the work of getting named when an AI writes the answer instead of a list of links. It means a site the AI can read, content written so it can be quoted, and a check on whether and how your name comes up in answers.
SEO puts you in a list of links and makes you compete for position. GEO puts you inside the answer, where there is one place, or nearly. They do not exclude each other: a fast, well-structured site serves both, but what you measure and what you write change.
That is quick to check. The most common case is a site that looks perfect in a browser but arrives nearly empty at the AI: that happens with sites built as applications. After that, it comes down to pages saying something precise and to the site stating plainly who you are and what you do.
No, and be wary of anyone who guarantees it: generated answers keep changing and nobody controls those models. What can be done is making the site readable, writing content that earns a citation, and coming back to measure whether the mentions move.
